Evacuated Tube Collectors
Evacuated tube collectors are used in Azzuro Solar's heating systems, which consist of rows of parallel glass tubes.
On the inner surface of the glass tube is a special selective coating that acts as an absorber in the way that absorber plates do in flat panel solar heating systems.

CPC Reflector
Our CPC or compound parabolic concentrator mirror sits behind the evacuated tubes. This CPC mirror acts to "track" the sun, ensuring that direct radiation as well as scattered radiation is focused onto the collector tubes. This technology provides higher energy capture for our customers.
This CPC evacuated tube technology is very efficient, especially in cooler climates such as New Zealand, due not only to its insulation properties, but also because of the gain in captured energy through the CPC reflectors.

Solar Cylinder
Cylinders specifically designed for solar use, with larger storage than normal electric or gas cylinders.
Solar inlet and outlets are located at the optimal positions to ensure stratification within the tank is maintained.

Solar Controller
The Solar Controller is a very important part of an optimally functioning solar hot water system.
The controller sensors check collector temperature, tank inlet temperature and mid/upper tank temperature, and uses these to decide whether to turn the circulation pump on.
The controller also detects whether frost protection should run.

Ancillary Equipment
Depending on the type of system being installed, additional ancillary equipment is used to complete the solar hot water system.

| For closed loop systems, a solar station and expansion vessel are used for pumping and pressure regulation. |

| For open loop systems, a small pump is used for pumping, and a special 5-way valve is used allow the cold water inlet of a normal cylinder to also become the inlet and outlet for the solar collectors. |
